LONDON: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Fatima Sana as the captain of the national team for the upcoming ACC Emerging Women’s T20 Asia Cup. The PCB announced the 14-player squad for the eight-team tournament scheduled to be held in Hong Kong from June 12 to 21.
Expressing her delight at being chosen for the opportunity, the 21-year-old all-rounder said, “It is an honor for me to captain Pakistan in the upcoming tournament. The responsibility of leading the emerging side will definitely help me develop as a cricketer, and I am eagerly looking forward to leading my team in this important tournament.”
Sana also mentioned that the players are full of energy and excitement to participate in the tournament. She highlighted the team’s preparation and practice over the past few weeks, including their participation in the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament against strong opponents. She emphasized the team’s determination to make the most of the upcoming matches.
In the tournament, Pakistan has been placed in Group A alongside Hong Kong, India, and Thailand. Sana extended her congratulations to all the players selected for the emerging Asia Cup and expressed hope that they would perform to their full potential. The chief selector, Saleem Jaffar, acknowledged the outstanding talent within the team and stated that the selection process was a tough call due to the players’ abilities.

Jaffar encouraged those players who were not selected for the tournament to remain motivated and continue working hard, assuring them that they would have opportunities in upcoming events. He praised Fatima Sana for her exceptional leadership skills displayed in domestic tournaments and expressed confidence in her ability to lead the team by example.
Pakistan’s squad for the ACC Emerging Women’s T20 Asia Cup includes players such as Anoosha Nasir, Najiha Alvi (wk), Syeda Aroob Shah, and others. Reserves for the team are Amber Kainat, Dua Majid, Fatima Khan, and Rameen Shamim.
The tournament will kick off for Pakistan on June 13 with a match against Thailand A, followed by matches against Hong Kong on June 15 and India A on June 17.
