Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Senator, Dost Muhammad Mehsud, has asked for a quota of four percent, as given by the constitution of Pakistan, for students of tribal areas from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in medical and engineering institutes, as per local media reports.
In this regard, Senator Muhammad Mehsud raised a calling attention notice in the senate and requested admission for the students of tribal areas who passed MDCAT.

Former FATA students deprived of rights
Senator Mehsud further claimed that ex-FATA students are knowingly being deprived of their right to get admission to medical and engineering colleges by the four percent quota of the constitution.
Moreover, he said that he would seek the court’s assistance if the government did not implement the quota. In addition, he urged the government to hold on to the promises it made to the people of ex-FATA before the region was merged into KP.

Additionally, Senator Mehsud requested the government to grant Rs100 billion every year to the people of tribal districts since they are left behind by the rest of the country in terms of development due to the continuous security threats in the region.
