ISLAMABAD: The Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FASP), Magnolia Chapter, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at a local hotel in Islamabad. The event, marked by its blend of tradition and creativity, highlighted the chapter’s achievements and showcased the artistic prowess of floral art.
The AGM started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Sarwat Aslam. Following this, Magnolia’s year-long journey from July 2023 to July 2024 was presented through a multimedia presentation prepared by Sarwat Aslam. The presentation, complemented by oral narratives from Huma Kamran and Farah Khursheed, illustrated the chapter’s activities, milestones, and contributions to the floral art community.
After the presentation, Shaista Khawar, the former President of the Rose Chapter, Lahore, was invited to the stage for the demonstration on the topic, “Nature Unleashed.” Known for her extensive expertise in floral art and as a certified Ikebana teacher, Shaista Khawar presented 14 extraordinary floral arrangements.
Each piece was a testament to her skill and creativity, utilizing a diverse range of materials including versatile plant elements, wires, vegetables, handcrafted clay pots, wood slices, cloth, jute, and even discarded air conditioning filters. Her innovative use of materials and techniques symbolically narrated various stories, leaving a profound impression on the attendees. The demonstration received widespread acclaim from the audience, who appreciated Shaista’s dedication and artistic flair.
Following the demonstration, President Wiqarunnisa Boolani addressed the attendees, expressing gratitude to Shaista Khawar for her contribution and presence. In her speech, Boolani also thanked the Magnolia Chapter members for their continued trust, noting her re-election as president for a fourth term.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to Shaista Khawar and small gifts for the birthday girls among the attendees. As customary, the event ended on a convivial note with refreshments and pleasantries.
