Following a medical assessment, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical panel confirmed the diagnosis. Fakhar received immediate treatment from the team physio and has since been sidelined from all cricket-related activity.
As a result, he missed the third and final T20I, in which Pakistan claimed a 13-run victory to win the series 2-1.
Rehabilitation programme
He is expected to return to Pakistan on the evening of 4 August, where he will begin a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore under the supervision of the PCB medical staff.
The Mardan-born batter has been struggling for form in recent outings. During the prior series against Bangladesh, Fakhar registered scores of 1, 44, and 8. Against the West Indies, he posted 28 and 20 in the opening two games before injury forced him out.
Earlier this year, Fakhar also sustained an oblique muscle injury during Pakistan’s opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Despite playing through discomfort to score 24 off 41 balls before being dismissed by Michael Bracewell, the injury ruled him out of the remainder of the tournament.
He was subsequently omitted from both the ODI and T20I squads for Pakistan’s home series against New Zealand in April.
