ISLAMABAD: Pakistan opening batter Fakhar Zaman took part in training with the national squad at the ICC Academy ahead of the upcoming tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, set to commence on 29 August.

Two days prior, the first group of Pakistan’s T20 squad had arrived in the UAE to participate in a pre-series training camp in preparation for both the tri-nation series and the Asia Cup 2025.

The national team’s training camp at the ICC Academy will continue until 27 August, with sessions tailored to ready the players for a busy international schedule in the UAE.

Hamstring injury

Fakhar, who had been ruled out of the West Indies series after suffering a hamstring injury during the second T20I in Florida, has now rejoined training.

Following the injury, he received immediate treatment from the team’s physiotherapist and was subsequently sidelined from all cricketing activities. As a result, he missed the remainder of the West Indies tour, and there were doubts regarding his participation in the Asia Cup 2025 and the tri-series. However, he has since been included in the squad.

For context, the Tri-Nation Series — featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE — will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from 29 August to 7 September.

Pakistan will begin their campaign against Afghanistan. Each team will face the others twice, with the top two sides progressing to the final on 7 September.

Following the conclusion of the series, Pakistan will shift focus to the 2025 Asia Cup, which gets underway on 9 September with the opening fixture between Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

Pakistan squad for the UAE Tri-Nation Series and Asia Cup 2025:
