SYLHET, Bangladesh: Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf delivered a match-winning performance, claiming sensational figures of 5 for 17, to propel the Rangpur Riders to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Monday.

His devastating 3.5-over spell dismantled the Royals’ batting order, setting up a straightforward chase for his side.

Asked to bat first, the Chattogram Royals’ innings never gained momentum and they were bundled out for a meagre 102 in 17.5 overs.

Opener Mohammad Naim provided a brief spark with a brisk 39 off 20 balls, but once he departed, the innings fell apart.

Only Mirza Baig (20) offered minor resistance as Faheem Ashraf ripped through the middle and lower order.

He was ably supported by Mustafizur Rahman (2 wickets), with other bowlers chipping in to ensure a complete collapse.

Riders Cruise to Target

In response, the Rangpur Riders’ chase was clinical and dominant. Openers Dawid Malan and Litton Das swiftly erased any doubt about the result, putting on a fluent 91-run partnership.

Litton Das fell for a quickfire 47 off 31 balls, while Dawid Malan anchored the innings with a composed, unbeaten 51 from 48 deliveries.

Although Mukidul Islam took two quick wickets, Khushdil Shah and Mahmudullah ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding the Riders to the target in just 15 overs.

Victory Seals Early Dominance

The victory was built on the foundation of Faheem Ashraf’s brilliant bowling, which earned him the Player of the Match award.

The commanding win underscores Rangpur Riders’ strong start to the BPL 2025-26 season, showcasing a balanced team performance with both bowling and batting units firing in unison.
