KARACHI: The Sindh government has rejected claims regarding the purchase of luxury cars for assistant commissioners, calling them misleading and lacking context. They clarified that the allocation of Rs2 billion for luxury vehicles was presented negatively and without proper details.

The government explained that officers often work long hours in remote areas to ensure the smooth operation of government machinery. The Suzuki Cultus cars used by assistant commissioners were bought in 2010 and 2012 and have not been upgraded yet. These vehicles are now 7 to 8 years old and have accumulated over 0.8 million mileage.

Many officers do not own personal vehicles and are forced to rent cars for emergency duties. The Sindh government emphasized that the double-cabin vehicles should not be deemed as luxury cars. They are set to buy 138 4×4 double-cabin vehicles for assistant commissioners throughout Sindh.
