ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday issued a formal clarification to dispel rumours circulating on various media platforms regarding the internet service disruption scheduled for Thursday, January 15.
In a statement released tonight, the regulatory authority categorically denied any such plans, asserting that all internet services across the South Asian country remain fully operational and stable.
Earlier, several local media outlets and social media users ran news and discussions speculating that internet services across Pakistan would be suspended or slowed on January 15.

Routine maintenance unrelated to service quality
The PTA addressed public concerns that may have arisen from ongoing international submarine cable maintenance work.
The authority confirmed that these routine technical activities are proceeding as planned, but emphasised that they are not expected to cause any degradation or outage in internet services for users in Pakistan.
“Information regarding any disruption of internet services on 15 January is incorrect and without a factual basis,” the PTA’s statement read.
Authority ensures uninterrupted connectivity
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining robust digital infrastructure, the PTA assured citizens and businesses that it is continuously monitoring the national telecom networks.
This proactive surveillance is standard protocol to ensure the provision of seamless and uninterrupted connectivity to all consumers.
