ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information on Monday dismissed “propaganda” that the United States will be using Pakistani bases or airspace for possible strikes against Iran.
The ministry in a post on X called the allegations “pure disinformation” and a “reckless, blame-pushing narrative.
The ministry attributed the claims to “propaganda machineries in Afghanistan” and Indian accounts, particularly identifying three handles — Khurasan Media Urdu, Baba Banaras and Afghan Defence.
It said that one such post, by an X account Khurasan Media Urdu, alleged that “special American aircraft have arrived in Pakistan for an attack on Iran” and pointed to “unusual” flight movements of US aerial refuelling and surveillance aircraft between Pakistan and Iran.

A similar claim was made by another X account, Baba Banaras, who stated: “Several US reconnaissance and cargo planes carrying weapons have landed at Dalbandin and Pasni airbases in Pakistan. It seems preparations are being made for action against Iran.”
The ministry’s fact check account said false claims had been made “that the US has moved aerial refuelling (KC-135R) and surveillance aircraft to Pakistan, that these aircraft are conducting unusual flights towards or into Iranian airspace, and that Pakistan is being used as a base or launch corridor to support US stealth fighters (F-35/F-22) for a possible imminent military strike on Iran”.
“No credible outlet confirms that US KC-135R/ISR aircraft are operating in Pakistan,” it said.
It reiterated that “US refuelling aircraft movements have been reported, but mostly linked to Europe”.
Recalling Islamabad’s official position during the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, in which the US also carried out strikes inside Iran, the ministry said Pakistan had publicly condemned the US actions.
Dragging Pakistan into US-Iran conflict
“This clearly denies the ‘Pakistan is facilitating strikes’ story,” the statement said, adding that the narrative seeks to drag Pakistan into a US-Iran conflict without any verifiable evidence.
The ministry advised avoiding sharing sensational military “breaking news” from unverified or propaganda sources.
It urged to rely only on official sources such as the military’s media wing ISPR, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for accurate information on national security and defence.
The clarification comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of potential strikes over its crackdown on ongoing protests, prompting strong responses from Tehran.
On Sunday, Iran warned that it would retaliate against US military bases and Israel if the Trump administration carried out an attack, accusing Washington and Tel Aviv of fueling unrest.
The same day, Trump said he was considering a range of strong measures, including military options, while claiming that Iranian leaders had reached out for negotiations.
It may be recalled that Pakistan’s interior ministry said it has uncovered what it described as coordinated, paid social media campaigns operated largely from abroad through fake accounts, warning that individuals who knowingly participate could face legal consequences.
