GENEVA: United Nations refugee chief Filippo Grandi on Wednesday warned that forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza into other states in the region would be catastrophic.
The UN official during an interview with western stressed the need for a permanent ceasefire.
He hoped that there will not be an exodus of Palestinians of Gaza.
He went on to say that already two-thirds of the population of Gaza have become homeless because of the original conflict, as he referred to Israel’s creation 75 years ago which gave rise to the exodus of 760,000 Palestinians.
That event is known in the history as the Nakba.
Grandi warned, the fresh exodus, would bring an additional burden on the refugee population, on the Palestinian population and on the entire region.

According to Gaza health ministry Israel since October 7, has carried out a relentless bombardment and a ground offensive in Gaza that has killed more than 16,200 people, most of them women and children.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with hundreds of thousands of civilians fleeing southward, facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
Filippo Grandi in his views said the priority is to go back to a pause followed by a humanitarian ceasefire.
He said the Palestinian people are at the moment the victims of Israeli military action.
