Explosion Injures Five in Northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Local officials said that at least 5 police personal were wounded when their vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled explosive device in Khar tehsil in Bajaur on Saturday.

DSP Abdul Azis said that the explosive device was planted in a roadside tree that was detonated through a remote control when the police vehicle was passing by it.  Initial reports suggest that five police personnel were wounded in the assault. The wounded police personnel were immediately shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar for medical treatment.

The police officials said that that a police team including the SHO Shahpur Khan were on routine patrol when the explosion took place, saying that SHO remained unhurt in the accident. The spot was cordoned off by the police personnel and a search operation was started in the area.
