Experts Discuss Ways to Ensure Energy Efficiency in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT:  More than one hundred stakeholders, energy policymakers, academia and civil society representatives from Uzbekistan, the European Union and its member states, as well as international financial organizations gathered at an international conference titled as “Energy Efficiency in Uzbekistan: prospects and challenges”, and discussed several important energy issues.

The Conference was held jointly by the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President of Uzbekistan and the EU-funded SECCA project as part of the EU – Uzbekistan Sustainable Energy Days 2023, to provide an action-oriented forum for decision-makers to share their experiences in the implementation of energy efficiency policies.

Energy efficiency’s benefits

Energy efficiency has many economic, environmental, and social benefits. It is an easiest and cost-effective ways to combat climate change and reduce emissions and pollutants harmful to human health and quality of life.

Improved energy efficiency also lowers utility bills for businesses, people,  and industry, and creates new job and economic opportunities.

During the Conference, the participants discussed the policy and legal framework for the promotion of energy efficiency, energy audits in industry, energy efficiency in residential and public buildings, data collection on energy consumption, and other issues.

They also agreed to work together to make and implement sustainable energy policies and projects in Uzbekistan.
