ISLAMABAD: In an expected turn of events, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) 43 lawmakers are likely to attend the national assembly proceedings today (Thursday) after the Lahore High Court restored their membership by suspending the respective notifications issued by speaker national assembly and the Election Commission of Pakistan a day earlier.
PTI’s likely demand
According to the party sources, the lawmakers will attend today’s proceedings and most likely demand the slot of the opposition leader in the House. The Imran-led party wants to grab the chair of the leader of the opposition in the House and the slot of PTI’s parliamentary leader before the President could ask the prime minister for a vote of confidence. The session will start at 11:00am with the PTI members more than ready to show up in the House.
The PTI lawmakers reached Islamabad overnight after the LHC restored their membership on Wednesday.
