TAIPEI: More than 50 replicas of tomb frescos from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) went on display at an exhibition at a university in Taoyuan on Tuesday, kicking off a tour of Taiwan.
The frescoes are all from the Shaanxi History Museum in the northwestern Chinese city of Xi’an, which was once the capital of the Tang Dynasty. These exhibits are expected to provide audiences with insights into Tang Dynasty life and customs, such as clothing, makeup, diet, sports, and religions.
Cultural exhibition
The exhibition is part of a cultural exhibition on Tang Dynasty frescoes co-sponsored by organizations from both sides of the Taiwan Strait that will tour several cities on the island in 2022. One of the exhibition’s organizers, Yu Qun, vice-chairperson of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, stated in a video that the Tang Dynasty fresco exhibition will be staged at more colleges in Taiwan, giving young people more opportunities to better understand traditional Chinese culture.
The tomb fresco exhibition will be held in Taoyuan until March 31st, and then in Taichung and Kinmen. — APP
