ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Federal Minister Zubaida Jalal has made surprising revelations before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the National Crime Agency (NCA) £190 million scandal, also known as the Al-Qadir Trust Case.
According to media reports, Zubaida Jalal disclosed that a cabinet member suggested investigating the £190 million and advocated approaching the NCA to release the amount to Pakistan. The revelation indicates that cabinet members were involved in the investigation, and they shared a unanimous stance on the NCA scandal.
Zubaida Jalal further informed NAB that she had urged the cabinet to investigate the matter, but former Prime Minister Imran Khan did not heed her advice. Despite objections from cabinet members, the NCA £190 million was approved, and the minutes of the meeting were kept confidential.
NCA £190 Million Scandal
The NCA £190 million scandal involves an investigation by the National Accountability Bureau against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others, alleging the acquisition of hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust.
This purportedly caused a loss of £190 million to the national exchequer. The charges suggest that the former prime minister and others adjusted Rs50 billion (equivalent to 190 million pounds at the time) sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency to the government.
Several cabinet members of the PTI government and other party leaders have been summoned by NAB in connection with the £190 million scandal, and the case continues to unfold.
