KHARTOUM: The European Union’s envoy in Sudan has been attacked in his home in Khartoum, top EU official Josep Borrell said on Monday.
BBC reported that Josep Borrell did not provide further details of the assault, nor whether the envoy was wounded.

He added, “Security of diplomatic areas and officials is a key responsibility of Sudanese officials and an obligation as per international law,”.
Although Borrell did not name him, the EU’s envoy to Sudan is Aidan O’Hara, an Irish envoy. The BBC has also contacted O’Hara’s office.
A few hours ago, the EU Ambassador in #Sudan was assaulted in his own residency.
This constitues a gross violation of the Vienna Convention. Security of diplomatic premises and staff is a primary responsibility of Sudanese authorities and an obligation under international law.

The African country experienced its 3rd day of fighting between the army personnel and the Rapid Support Forces on Monday.
Both parties claimed to control key areas in the capital, where residents sheltered from blasts and explosions.
Over 1,800 civilians and fighters have been wounded according to Volker Perthes, the UN’ ambassador for Sudan. He told the media on Monday that as many as 185 people were killed in the recent clashes in the African country.
