ISLAMABAD: The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, will undertake an official visit to Pakistan on June 1 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
According to the Foreign Office, Kallas and Dar will co-chair the 8th Session of the Pakistan-European Union Strategic Dialogue, the highest-level platform for structured engagement between the two sides.
The dialogue is expected to provide an opportunity for comprehensive discussions on bilateral relations, regional and international developments, economic cooperation, trade, security and other areas of mutual interest.
During her visit, Kallas is also scheduled to meet Pakistan’s senior leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan highly values its long-standing and multidimensional partnership with the European Union, which is based on shared interests, strong economic ties and a commitment to multilateral cooperation.
The European Union remains one of Pakistan’s most important economic partners and a major destination for Pakistani exports. Cooperation between the two sides spans trade, development, climate action, education, governance and people-to-people exchanges.
Officials believe the visit reflects the growing momentum in high-level engagements between Pakistan and the EU and demonstrates a shared desire to further deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.
The Foreign Office said the upcoming Strategic Dialogue would serve as an important platform for advancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of collaboration in line with the evolving regional and global landscape.
