EU Envoy Calls on Pakistan’s Health Minister to Discuss Important Issues

ISLAMABAD: The ambassador of the European Union (EU) Rina Kivanka called on Pakistan’s caretaker Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan and discussed matters related to the health sector and mutual interest.

During the meeting, the envoy felicitated the minister on assuming the charge as federal minister.

The ambassador said that the world appreciates the services of Jan in efforts to eradicate the disease of polio.

The envoy also appreciated practical measures on the Global Health Security Agenda.

She said that the EU will hold a meeting with the Nutrition Cell of the health ministry to cooperate in the nutrition program.

Minister Appreciates EU’s Support

Dr. Nadeem Jan said that the EU provided full support in the rehabilitation of the flood victims in Pakistan.

He said that the eradication of polio is the top priority of the caretaker government. The health ministry is in regular contact with neighboring Afghanistan for a joint integrated strategy at the border to eliminate the paralyzing disease.

He said that Pakistan will soon organize a top-level meeting on the Global Health Security Agenda. Stakeholders and experts from all over the world will participate in the gathering.

The EU envoy will also be invited to participate in the Global Health Security Summit.
