Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan Receives National Peace Award

ISLAMABAD: The National Peace and Justice Council honored the Ambassador of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, with the esteemed National Peace Award on Thursday.

This recognition was bestowed upon the envoy for his dedicated efforts in laying the foundation and fostering closer relations between the two countries.

The award ceremony was organized during the National Peace Seminar, which was held at the Islamabad Club.

NPJC Chairman Mian Abdul Waheed presented the award to the ambassador, appreciating his commitment to strengthening the bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan by bridging the gap and bringing people, business communities, and institutions closer.

He said, indeed, envoy Jemal Beker played an important role in advancing brotherhood and fraternity between the two heirs of civilizations.

Addressing the ceremony, Jemal Beker Abdula extended gratitude to the NPJC for acknowledging his efforts to bolster friendship and partnership between the two nations.

Ambassador emphasizes shared values between Pakistan and Ethiopia

He stressed on shared values between Pakistan and Ethiopia while underlining their important role as major contributors to the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Mission to ensure peace, stability and prosperity across the world.

He said that countries played pivotal roles in preserving world peace and security, with their people working together to save lives worldwide.

The diplomat took a moment to pay tribute to the brave sacrifices of Pakistan in the pursuit of international peace and security, saying that the country’s unwavering commitment to this cause would forever be remembered.

He also said that Ethiopia’s own contributions, with a significant number of its soldiers sacrificing their lives for international peace and security under blue helmet of United Nations peacekeeping missions in different countries.

The ambassador highlighted the historical importance of Ethiopia as a land of justice, referring to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in this regard, as well as the refuge provided by King Najashi to Muslims in the past.

Stressing the importance of peace for human prosperity and development, he asserted that in the fast-changing global landscape, peace and security were more important than ever.

He urged for sustained efforts toward achieving peace through constructive negotiations, dialogue, and countering the spread of misinformation and disinformation.
