ISLAMABAD: Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, on Wednesday called on Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH, and discussed potential areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and technology.
Both discussed initiatives, including institutional collaboration for effective capacity building of Ethiopian human resources in education, technology, healthcare, and innovation sectors.
The Coordinator-General of COMSTECH expressed his desire to support capacity-building initiatives of the government of Ethiopia through knowledge sharing, which would help Ethiopia develop indigenous technologies in important sectors of socio-economic.
Jemal Beker Abdula expressed gratitude to Iqbal Choudhary for his keen interest in sharing expertise and knowledge with the government of Ethiopia and assured him of full cooperation in this regard.
The envoy said that Ethiopia attached great significance to the technology sector, which was a priority in the Home-Grown Economic Reforms Agenda initiated by Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
Exchange of Delegations Between Pakistan and Ethiopia
He also proposed exchanges of delegations from healthcare, education, and technology sectors for institutional development in Ethiopia.
The envoy also underlined the boost witnessed by Ethiopia and Pakistan’s bilateral relationship in the recent past, including the commencement of Ethiopian Airlines’ flight operations in Karachi, playing an important role in further strengthening people-to-people contacts between the two nations.
He said that Ethiopia is a gateway to Africa, and by bringing Ethiopian Airlines to Pakistan, it has connected the country with the whole African continent.
