Ethiopia Praises MWL Chief’s Contributions Towards Peace, Harmony

RIYADH:  President of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde has praised the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa in promoting peace and harmony in diverse societies and provide humanitarian services, Arab media reported on Thursday.

She made the remarks during a meeting with the MWL chief in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.

Zewde lauded the efforts of the Muslim World League and its chief to promote peace and harmony in diverse societies and provide humanitarian services.

The president emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence in countries with religious, ethnic, and cultural diversities.

Al-Issa in his remarks thanked Ethiopian President for the warm welcome and her positive views about the Muslim World League.

He praised the contribution of Ethiopian Muslims, to the development, enlightenment, and prosperity of the country.

Al-Issa has also met Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed and the two sides discussed efforts to enhance religious, intellectual, and community awareness to combat extremist ideas.

The head of the MWL on Thursday announced the establishment of Negus Mosque in Ethiopia. “This historic project was applauded by the Ethiopian government and the Islamic Council,” the MWL said.
