ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Pakistan Jemal Beker Abdula on Friday said that Ethiopia-Pakistan Business Forum in Karachi in May would provide a great opportunity for boosting trade and commercial relations between the two countries.
The forum is being organized jointly by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Embassy of Ethiopia during the second week of May in honour of key official and business delegations from Ethiopia.
Addressing the business community at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said that bilateral trade n would get a major boost with the formation of strong linkages between the business community of both nations.
Pakistan’s business community’s interest appreciated
He also lauded the keen interest of Pakistan’s business fraternity, particularly in Karachi, in bolstering bilateral trade, eventually increasing people-to-people contacts between both countries.
The envoy also recalled the recent visit of over one hundred Pakistani businessmen to Ethiopia in March, which the Ethiopian embassy in Pakistan arranged within 6 months of its establishment.
He said Ethiopian Airlines would launch its flight operations from Karachi on 9 May to operate 4 flights a week to Addis Ababa and vice versa.
The envoy said that his country was looking forward to the big presence of the business community in the forum, which provides a perfect opportunity to connect with their fraternity in Ethiopia.
KCCI President Mohammed Tariq Yousuf assured the envoy that the business community would participate in business forums in huge numbers so that a comprehensive strategy could be made to strengthen economic ties with the brotherly country.
He also commended the efforts made by Jemal Beker to establish Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan to connect it not only with Ethiopia but also with the whole African continent.
