ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed Turkey’s continued support for Pakistan after the recent escalation with India, praising Islamabad’s restraint and commitment to peace.
“On the nefarious terror attack or missile attack against Pakistan, we have a very clear stance — we expressed our support to the Pakistani public,” Erdogan said in an address. He welcomed the ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours and commended Pakistan’s “patience and common sense” in the face of Indian aggression.
Erdogan stated that “I congratulate… our Pakistani brothers and sisters for their patience and ‘common sense’ in responding to India’s ‘nefarious’ attacks.’
The Turkish President expressed his pleasure at the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan. “On the nefarious terror attack or missile attack against Pakistan, we have a very clear stance. We expressed our support to the Pakistani public.”
Erdogan added that Turkey had made efforts to decrease tension in the region, which had reached a serious level. Erdogan noted that he spoke to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Turkish President praised the patience, common sense, and right approach exhibited by the people of Pakistan in the recent escalation with Indian. “We congratulate the Pakistani brothers and sisters.”
He said in the new environment reached after the ceasefire, hopefully, Turkey will facilitate the resolution of all issues, including the water issue.

“In such a crisis, our stance is always clear: we always stand for peace, stability, diplomacy, and dialogue. In international relations, we do not look for gains in others’ losses; we reject this understanding,” he noted.
Pakistan PM thanks Erdogan
On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his strong support and unwavering solidarity with Pakistan.
“I was profoundly touched by my dear brother, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for his strong expression of support and unwavering solidarity with Pakistan,” PM Shehbaz stated in a post on X.
“Pakistan is proud of its long-standing, time-tested, and abiding fraternal ties with Turkiye that have grown stronger with each new challenge. I am particularly grateful for His Excellency’s constructive role and concerted efforts in promoting peace in South Asia,” the prime minister stated.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday highlighted the enduring brotherly ties between Turkiye and Pakistan and lauded Islamabad’s prudent approach that prioritises dialogue and reconciliation in resolving disputes.
“We highly appreciate the prudent, patient policy of the Pakistani state that prioritises dialogue and reconciliation in resolving disputes,” Erdogan wrote on X, responding to Pakistan’s Prime Minister.
