ANKARA, Turkiye: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan extended his Eid al Adha greetings on Sunday, emphasizing wishes for peace and tranquility across Türkiye and the broader cultural region. “I wholeheartedly congratulate our nation and the Islamic world on the occasion of Eid al Adha,” Erdogan wrote on X. He expressed hopes that the holiday would bring peace to hearts, tranquility to Türkiye, and peace to the spiritual geography, especially Palestine and Sudan.

Eid al Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son at God’s command. Erdogan marked the holiday by reiterating Türkiye’s support for the Palestinian people, who are celebrating their holiday under severe conditions imposed by Israel.

“I extend my sincere congratulations to my brothers in Gaza on this Eid al-Adha, a holiday they enjoy despite Israel’s heinous horrors against them. I wish that our brothers who are suffering, oppressed, and massacred every day will find peace, security, and stability as soon as possible,” Erdogan stated.

Since October 7 last year, Türkiye has maintained a firm stance against Israel’s actions in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian Territories, condemning them as genocidal policies. Türkiye has also been active in providing humanitarian aid, sending over 55,000 tonnes of assistance to Gaza.
