LAHORE: Punjab Police Inspector-GeneralDr Usman Anwar has sought an enhanced compensation package for policemen, who may be injured and decapitated in the line of duty, to provide them artificial organs to convert their disability into ability.

The Punjab police chief said that the injured and decapitated policemen will also be given electric wheelchairs and beds once the provincial government approves the proposed package.
Sources said that a summary seeking to enhance financial support from Rs1 million to Rs2.5 million for wounded and Rs10 million for the incapacitated cops had been sent to the provincial government for approval.
As per the new package, in line with the martyred police personnel for whose heirs a particular post is created, special posts will also be created for the personnel who are injured and incapacitated in the line of duty but unable to discharge their duty.
Under the new package, they will get a salary till their retirement, and new recruitment could also be made against their posts.
The provincial government will also provide expert physiotherapy facilities to injured cops. They will also get the best medical package.
“Every possible step would be taken for their treatment inside and outside the country at the government’s expense,” Dr Usman Anwar said during his meeting with constable Muhammad Rizwan, who had sustained critical bullet wound during an encounter with robbers in Sheikhupura.
