SYDNEY:  England has defeated arch-rival Australia 3-1 in the second Sami Final and makes a historic first-ever Women’s World Cup final, set to take place in Sydney on Sunday.

Australia’s superstar, Sam Kerr, took the field for her first match of the tournament and managed to score for the Matildas. However, her efforts weren’t enough to fend off the formidable European champion, England.

Ella Toone found the back of the net in the 36th minute, granting England a 1-0 lead. The Lionesses dominated possession during the first half, showcasing their prowess on the field.

Kerr’s equalizing goal in the 63rd minute injected a glimmer of hope into the 75,000-plus crowd, but England solidified their victory with goals from Lauren Hemp in the 71st minute and Alessia Russo just four minutes before the regulation time concluded.

England to Face Spain in Women’s World Cup Final

England is now set to face Spain, who secured their own first-ever Women’s World Cup final spot by defeating Sweden 2-1 in Auckland on Tuesday.

As for the co-hosts, Australia, they will square off against Sweden in the battle for the third-fourth position on Saturday in Brisbane.
