KARACHI: England on Saturday dismissed Pakistan for 304 runs on day one of the third Test match Eng vs Pak at National Stadium Karachi.
England kept Pakistan on backfoot the whole day while regularly picking up wickets.
England spinner Jack Leach took four wickets, and debutant Rehan Ahmed bagged two wickets.
Meanwhile, Joe Root, Ollie Robinson, and Mark Wood snared one scalp each.
Eng vs Pak : Day 1 of 3rd test match
Pakistan cricket skipper Babar Azam looked in great form, but he was run out for 78 runs. Babar hit nine fours for 78 runs during the final session of the day-1 of the third and final test match.
Like Babar Azam, Agha Salman also failed to convert his 50 into a hundred and was dismissed at 56 runs.
The green shirts lost two wickets after the lunch break, with Mohammad Rizwan (19) and Saud Shakeel (23) returning to the pavilian.
Saud Shakeel became the debut wicket for the English spinner Rehan Ahmed, skipper Ben Stokes caught Mohammad Rizwan at Joe Root’s bowling.
In the first session, Abdullah Shafique (8) was the first dismissal after Leach’s ball skidded into his knee roll.
Shan Masood, after scoring 30 runs in 37 balls, top-edged a short one from Mark Wood.
Meanwhile, Ben Foakes caught Azhar Ali in a leg-side strangle. Azhar Ali scored 45 runs and was dismissed on the stroke of the lunch break.
Earlier, Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first against England.
The tourists made two changes in their side, bringing in Rehan Ahmed and wicketkeeper Ben Foakes in place of Will Jacks and James Anderson.
Veteran Pakistan batter Azhar Ali, who announced retirement from Test cricket on Friday, is one of four changes in the Pakistan side.
