LONDON: British-Pakistani formula racer Enaam Ahmed achieved the highest-ever position for a Pakistani driver in world racing as he finished the Alabama Grand Prix in fourth place and became the first Pakistani to finish Top 5 in a Grand Prix.

The world race was held at Barber Motorsports Park, a top-level motor racing series in the US. The competition was attended by 18 drivers, considered amongst the best globally.

In his second start in the Firestone IndyNXT Championship, the final frontier before Indy cars, Enaam battled hard but intelligent to grab the fourth-place finish at Barber Motorsports Park.

An elated Ahmed said, After the final results were announced, “I’m happy with the result and the efforts put in by my game team Cape Motorsports, especially as this was their first year in this game series. I picked up many points and am pleased to finish ahead of the champion. There were some hickups in the first 3-5 minutes, but I overcame these, and there was no looking back.”

The racer said, “It’s a matter of pride that I fly the flag of Pakistan on my vehicle.”

Enaam started from ninth on the grid in a field of 18 drivers. The clean and intelligent drive put him in 6th place after the game was re-started following a crash. On the final lap, he could move up to fourth, a historic day for Pakistan motorsports as this was the best-ever finish in the top tier of world motor racing by a Pakistani driver.

Enaam has been making history since his karting days. He is a British Formula 3 Champion, the first-ever high-level Formula Championship races winner in the history of Pakistan. Emaan Ahmed, during the championship, beat the record of Ayrton Senna by winning 13 game races in one season.
