ISLAMABAD: As the international community celebrates World Teachers’ Day on Saturday, President Asif Ali Zardari urged citizens to reaffirm their commitment to empowering teachers and ensuring they receive the respect and recognition they deserve.
“On this day, let us commit to empowering our teachers and providing them with the support they need. We must invest in their capacity building and professional development to enhance our education system,” the president stated in his message to the nation.
He emphasized that teachers are the architects of society, nurturing young minds and playing a crucial role in shaping future generations. “Capable teachers foster critical thinking, creativity, and ethical values in their students, helping them become responsible and productive citizens. They should also promote moral development by instilling values of love, tolerance, mutual respect, and brotherhood,” he added.
President Zardari acknowledged the challenges teachers face, including inadequate training and limited professional development opportunities. He highlighted the urgent need to equip teachers with the necessary tools to effectively fulfill their responsibilities.
“We must establish standards for teacher recruitment, ongoing education, training, and certification. A comprehensive monitoring and performance evaluation system is essential for improving educational outcomes in our schools. Furthermore, we need to provide teachers with a better working environment to ensure they can fulfill their duties with commitment,” the president said.
