ISLAMABAD: Embassy of Azerbaijan to Pakistan on Monday celebrated Victory Day by hosting a special reception here at a local hotel in Islamabad. Azerbaijan Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov was the host of the reception.
Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif graced the occasion as the Chief Guest beside a large number of Diplomats, Ambassadors, High commissioners, Defence Attaché, government officials, and media persons. The chief guest Khawaja Asif also performed the cake-cutting ceremony along with other guests.
Before welcome remarks, a one-minute silence was observed for the martyrs of the war.
On this occasion, glimpses of the liberation struggle were highlighted through film Documentaries. The Documentaries also showed the destruction caused by the enemy bombing and shelling.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Khazar Farhadov explained Armenia’s aggression and hegemonic behavior towards Azerbaijan. He said that due to the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijani people by Armenia, millions were left homeless.
Ambassador said that on several occasions, Armenia violated international law, and so far, no sanctions have been imposed. To counter Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani forces culminated in the 44 days of war with victory.
Ambassador further added that this victory restored independence for the occupied territories. He said this victory was the victory of Azerbaijan. Ambassador shared with the audience that the government has begun rehabilitation work in the war-hit areas.
While speaking on Kashmir, Ambassador Khazar said Azerbaijan supports the Kashmir issue and fully believes that this dispute should be resolved according to UN resolutions.
