Elon Musk’s X to Allow Political Ads Ahead of US Elections

SAN FRANCISCO: The social media platform, X, formerly twitter has allowed political ads from candidates ahead of US elections, western media reported on Wednesday.

Elon Musk owned X in statement said that allowing political ads, starting in the United States, was “building on our commitment to free expression.”

It said that the platform bans promotion of misleading information, including false claims intended to demoralize candidates in an election.

X said it is increasing its safety standards and elections teams to focus on fighting misuse of the platform and will provide an online space where political ads can be reviewed.

The social media giant said it is upgrading its Civic Integrity Policy to tackle content aimed to intimidate or cheat voters while aligning with a Musk’s philosophy of allowing people to say whatever they want to.
