LOS ANGELES: A United States Federal Judge on Saturday issued a sentence that exceeds 11 years in prison for defrauding investors in the non-functioning company that carried out blood tests.

“What went wrong? This is sad because Ms. Holmes is brilliant,” said U.S. District Court Judge Edward Davila, according to media reports from American media reports. Davila termed failure as normal, however, called fraudulent failure not correct.

A federal jury in San Jose, California, in January, had found Elizabeth Holmes guilty of four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Nigerian Author Bolaji Otatunde:

I am shocked that she is capable of producing tears. Watched a documentary about her a few weeks ago; Elizabeth Holmes seemed so tough and battle-hardened that nothing could move her.

I bet Elizabeth Holmes is freaking out right now trying to decide which voice to use in prison

At one time, Holmes and her outfit Theranos had an abundant following due to the claim about making a technological advance in testing blood such that a minuscule amount of blood would be required. In 2015, Forbes termed the Theranos founder as America’s richest self-made woman based on the company’s multibillion-dollar valuation at the time.
