ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has notified 93 more MPAs across three provinces as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers after the Supreme Court’s July 12 ruling regarding the reserved seats case.

According to the ECP notification on Monday, 29 seats in the Punjab Assembly, six seats in the Sindh Assembly and 58 seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were allocated to the PTI.

Last week, the ECP notified 39 returned lawmakers in the National Assembly. Moreover, the country’s top electoral authority had decided to seek further guidance from the apex court regarding the implementation of the judgment on reserved seats.

Earlier this month, a full-court SC bench set aside decisions of the Peshawar High Court and Election Commission of Pakistan to take away reserved seats from the Sunni Ittehad Council. The court ruled that the PTI should be considered a political party and should be given reserved seats.

“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was and is a political party which secured and won… general seats in the national and provincial assemblies in the general elections of 2024,” said the majority decision read by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.

The majority of the eight made the decision and was announced by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. However, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah read out the majority order.
