MADINA, KSA: Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Sunday said that he was “appalled” to know that the police stormed into the house of President Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain during the operation to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president Ch. Parvez Elahi.
Taking note of a tweet by Ch. Shujaat’s son, Chaudhry Saalik Hussain, the caretaker Chief Minister said that “no illegal action will be allowed by anyone”. Saalik, sharing a video of the police party trying to enter into his house during the raid to arrest PTI’s Ch. Parvez Elahi, expressed dismay over what had happened.
“Appalled to know that team went to arrest Ch Pervaiz Elahi but stormed Ch Shaujaat’s House in which Ch Salik Hussain got injured. The law should take its course,” Naqvi wrote in the tweet in response to Saalik’s concerns. Interim chief minister Naqvi also shared that he was in Madina but receiving all the details about the matter.
A heavy contingent of the Punjab Police had raided the residence of the former PML-Q leader to arrest him. The PTI strongly condemned the police actions, voicing concerns regarding arrest of its workers and leaders from across the country.
It may be noted that Naqvi’s statement came after the federal government distanced itself from the raid, blaming the Punjab caretaker set-up for the incident.
