CAIRO, Egypt: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Syrian President Bashar Assad on Saturday to discuss the latest regional developments.
The leaders exchanged views on the dangers of regional escalation and stressed the importance of preventing the conflict zone from expanding, highlighting the need to preserve regional security and stability, according to Ahmed Fahmy, the Egyptian presidential spokesman.
Both El-Sisi and Assad firmly rejected attempts to “liquidate the Palestinian issue or displace” the Palestinian people. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s commitment to advocating for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians. He emphasized Egypt’s ongoing efforts to support the two-state solution, aiming for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
This conversation underscores the collaborative efforts of regional leaders to address the escalating tensions and work towards a peaceful resolution that respects the rights and needs of the Palestinian people.
