Eight Tremors Recorded in Syria in 24 Hours

DAMASCUS: The National Center for Earthquakes on Thursday recorded eight tremors across various parts of Syria in the past 24 hours.

According to the center it noted three tremors in Hama, ranging in magnitude between 1.4 and 2.6, while four tremors struck Latakia and Tartous, with a magnitude of between 1.6 and 3, in addition to a tremor of a magnitude of 1.5 in the Iskenderun district.

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit Syria on Monday night, injuring 65 with the tremors felt across Jordan and Lebanon.

The earthquakes were recorded in areas east of Hama at a distance of 22 kilometers, 28 kilometers and 29 kilometers; in the Iskenderun district northwest of Idlib at a distance of 44 kilometers; in the northwest of Latakia at a distance of 64 kilometers; and in the southwest of Latakia at a distance of 27 kilometers.

The centre added that the stations also recorded two earthquakes, the first 46 kilometers southeast of Tartous and the second 43 kilometers south of Tartous near the Syrian-Lebanese border.
