Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) received 93 million tourists by the end of last year and 8 million in the first quarter of the ongoing year, which exceeded all expectations, EO Saudi Tourism Authority Fahd Hamidaddin said on Friday.
In an interview with a news channel on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market exhibition in Dubai, Hamidaddin said that the number of Umrah visits during the first three months of 2023 has reached four million and one thousand visits.
There are about 42,000 hotel rooms currently under construction in the country, Hamidaddin said. He added that the summer season in Saudi Arabia will witness a huge turnout, as much as the kingdom’s winter season, Arab media reported on Friday.
Tourism becomes easier in Saudi Arabia
He said travel to the Kingdom has become easier than ever because of the announcement of different visas by the government during the year. The CEO said that the Kingdom participated in Arabian Travel Market exhibition activities with the largest delegation, which indicated the sector’s maturity in Saudi Arabia.
The number of participants in the exhibition event has increased by 80 percent compared to the last year when the number was 40 participants. It rose to 68 participants this year.
