RAWALPINDI: The district administration of Rawalpindi is gearing up for Eid-ul-Adha by arranging 11 temporary cattle markets across different tehsils.

These markets, set to be operational 10 days before Eid-ul-Azha, will offer comprehensive facilities for buyers and sellers alike.

In the Cantt areas, three markets will be established near Bhatta Chowk, Al-Haram City Mouza Misriot, and Gulistan Colony. Additionally, markets will be set up in various city areas, including Khayaban-e-Sir Syed and Sector 2.

Tehsil Gujar Khan and Tehsil Taxila will each have two markets to accommodate residents, while mandis for Tehsil Kallar Syedan and Kahota are also planned.

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) conducted an auction for the Bhatta Chowk market, fetching Rs109.9 million. Entry fees for sacrificial animals are fixed at Rs 3,000 for cows, bulls, and camels, and Rs 2,000 for goats and sheep.

Riaz Hussain secured the contract for fee collection, ensuring facilities are provided per the civic body’s guidelines. Veterinary services and water provisions will be available in the modernized market.

To maintain cleanliness and uphold safety standards, the RCB will monitor illegal markets and prohibit the sale of animals on residential streets. Strict enforcement of SOPs is mandated, with penalties for non-compliance.

As Rawalpindi readies itself for Eid-ul-Adha, administration is committed to facilitate the religious observance while ensuring public health and welfare.
