CAIRO: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has arrived in Angola at the start of a trio that also includes Mozambique and Zambia and Zambia, Arab media reported on Wednesday.
El-Sisi is the first President of Egypt to visit Angola, met Angola’s President Joao Lourenco in Luanda and witnessed the inking of several deals between the two nations. Lourenco said that the ties between the two nations were important.
Egypt’s President Visits Africa
Ahmad Fahmy, a spokesperson for the office of the Egyptian President, said that President El-Sisi’s trip in southern Africa reflects the nation is “keen to enhance coordination and communication with its African friends and to promote closer cooperation at the trade, economic, and investment levels.
During the trip, Egypt’s President will also hold a series of dialogue with the African leaders on cooperation and matters of mutual interest. President El-Sisi will also take part in the 22nd summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa during his trip to Lusaka. Zambia will also take the rotating chairmanship from Cairo.
Earlier, Egypt’s minister for Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir announced that the trade volume between Egypt and the African countries amounted to $2.117 billion during the first quarter of the current year.
