CAIRO: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty attended the sworn-in ceremony of Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian held at the parliament building in the country’s capital on Tuesday.
Earlier today, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi extended his congratulations to Pezeshkian, praising his victory in the presidential elections as a testament to the Iranian people’s confidence in his leadership. El-Sisi expressed hopes for Pezeshkian’s success and emphasized the strong relations between Egypt and Iran.
In May, Egypt mourned the tragic deaths of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a helicopter crash.
The Egyptian presidency released a statement expressing deep grief over the loss of Raisi, Amir-Abdollahian, and their aides, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19.
Reformist Pezeshkian won a runoff election against ultraconservative Saeed Jalili on July 5 to replace late President Ebrahim Raisi.
