CAIRO: Foreign Minister of Egypt Sameh Shoukry has warned against the consequences of Israel escalating its actions in the Gaza Strip.

During talks with his Jordanian and Iraqi counterparts, Ayman Al-Safadi and Fuad Hussein, he said there would be negative impacts of such steps on the security and stability of the entire region.

The discussions in Bahrain’s capital Manama took place on the sidelines of the Arab foreign ministers’ meeting being called in preparation for the Arab Summit on Wednesday.

Shoukry talked about Egypt’s actions to reach a comprehensive, immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and its call for permitting immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance.

He also stressed his country’s complete rejection of any attempts to displace the people of Gaza or kill the cause of Palestine.

He said Egypt thinks this cooperation would help to link the interests of the three countries and maximize mutual benefits. The talks also underlined the significance of putting into effect agreed joint projects as early as possible.

During a separate meeting with the foreign minister of Iraq Fuad Hussein, Shoukry reiterated the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to develop ties between the two nations in various fields.
