TEL AVIV: In a significant revelation, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, disclosed on Wednesday that Egypt had alerted Israel about an impending Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, attack days before the attack.
Speaking to reporters after a classified briefing on the resistance group, Hamas, attacks against Israel, McCaul confirmed that Egyptian authorities had given a warning to Israel about the imminent threat.
“We know that Egypt had warned the Israelis three days prior that an event like this could happen,” McCaul stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. Although he couldn’t delve into classified details, McCaul reiterated that a clear warning had been issued by Egypt.
Egypt Alerted Israel in Advance
His statement aligns with an Associated Press report published earlier this week, which also indicated that Egyptian officials had cautioned Israel about the looming attacks. According to an unnamed intelligence official cited in the report, Egypt had forewarned Israel about the escalating situation, emphasizing the potential magnitude of the impending events.
The revelation of Egypt’s prior warning underscores the complexities of the conflict and the efforts made by regional actors to manage the crisis.
