Egypt, Jordan Interior Ministers Discuss Security Cooperation

AMMAN: Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq and his Jordanian counterpart Mazen Al-Faraya on Friday discussed security cooperation.

During an official visit to Cairo, Jordan’s interior minister called on his Egyptian counterpart to review regional security and security cooperation between the two countries.

Jordan News Agency reported that the meeting between the two foreign ministers focused on cooperation as well as the latest developments in security issues.

The Jordanian minister lauded the scientific, technical, and training capabilities that he witnessed during his official visit to the Egyptian Interior Ministry.

Close Ties Between Jordan and Egypt

Al-Faraya said his visit comes within a framework of close ties between the two countries. He stressed Jordan’s interest in boosting cooperation and exchanging expertise with Egypt’s security services in several fields.

The Egyptian Interior Minister also expressed his ministry’s interest in extending bridges of communication and bilateral cooperation with Jordan in light of the historical ties that bind the two nations.

The Egyptian interior minister highlighted the significance of cooperating on security matters and enhancing joint efforts to curb terrorism and crimes.
