DOHA: Prime Minister of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in an interview on Sunday said that the efforts to free Ukrainian children from Russia are underway hoping more children will be released before the holidays.
He said Qatar has been playing mediatory role in different conflicts adding that this is something that has been in the basis of Qatar’s foreign policy. It added that such efforts are a core element of Qatar, that its leadership is are focusing on.
Al Thani went on to say that efforts have been ongoing and still continuing. He hoped that Qatar is hoping for another group to come back to their families before the holidays in Ukraine.

Qatar has played a vital role in securing the release of Israeli and foreign captives from Gaza in recent days. US president Joe Biden and other world leaders have praised Qatari leadership for their partnership in the process.
Qatar recently helped the return of Ukrainian children and the prime minister said he is in constant touch with Ukrainians and Russians to secure more results.
The prime minister said such attempts are a contribution of such a small country to global peace and security.
He added that Qatar carried out this role on the request of Ukraine. The PM went on to say that Qatar is happy that it could help and use its channels with Russia to secure the release of four kids.
