ISLAMABAD: Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva Bilal Ahmad has said that efforts to combat Islamophobia were anchored in the basic principles of international human rights, local media reported on Saturday.
Addressing a special event on world day to combat Islamophobia, the envoy underlined the need to reinvigorate the political consensus and take solid action HRC resolution 16/18. The special event was co-organized by the OIC Observer Mission and UN Geneva, a post on social media said.
He added that HRC resolution 53/1 indicated that a large majority of humanity condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran to stigmatize Muslims around the world. Unchecked religious hatred could rapidly become social malaise and political crisis, he further said.
