LONDON:  Global pop sensation Ed Sheeran has made a bold move beyond music, unveiling his first-ever fashion collaboration just as anticipation builds around his latest album, Play.

The 34-year-old British singer-songwriter has teamed up with New York-based streetwear label KidSuper to launch a capsule collection that includes T-shirts, hoodies, shorts, and hats. The collaboration was revealed on Thursday at KidSuper’s studio in New York City, just a day before the official release of Sheeran’s new album.

Speaking to WWD, Ed expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “I’ve loved working with Colm on this capsule collection. When we first started talking, I realised that there were a lot of similarities in the way we approach our work, and the feel of KidSuper mirrors what my new album Play is all about.”

The collection reflects the joy, colour, and freedom that Sheeran says defines the mood of his new music. “I love the spirit of the pieces we’ve designed; it’s all fun,” he added. “Colm has helped bring the joy and freedom of Play to life.”

This marks a fashion debut for Sheeran, who called the collaboration a “first” and expressed his delight at working with Colm Dillane, the creative force behind KidSuper. Known for fusing art, street culture, and music into his designs, Dillane’s vibrant aesthetic aligns with the upbeat tone of Sheeran’s latest musical direction.

In the midst of this exciting, creative chapter, Sheeran also took to Instagram to debunk rumours that he is permanently relocating to the United States.

“Way easier to clear up stuff on here,” he wrote in a candid post. “There’s deffo a narrative the press are trying to push that people wanna move out of the UK for some reason. I’m not moving.”

Clarifying further, the Perfect hit maker explained that his upcoming move is purely for touring purposes. “I’m going on tour with my family and relocating to the continent I’m touring on. Don’t wanna commute from London to San Diego obvz.”

He also dismissed speculation that the move was related to tax benefits. “Also, this isn’t a tax thing – it’s USA, not UAE. I’ll always pay tax in the UK ‘coz that’s where I live.”

Sheeran ended the post with a final nod to his new release: “Play out Friday, go listen to it x.”

With a brand-new album, a debut fashion line, and a world tour on the horizon, Ed Sheeran is clearly entering a bold new era—blending sound, style, and storytelling like never before.
