ECP to Hear Contempt Case Against Imran Khan, PTI Leaders on April 17

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled a hearing on Monday, April 17 for a contempt case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry and General Secretary Asad Umar.

A four-member ECP bench will hear the case. The electoral watchdog will also hear the prohibited funding case against PTI on the same day.

The ECP had previously given a final warning to the PTI leaders to appear before the commission in the contempt case.

ECP issues notices to PTI leaders

The notices were issued in response to accusations made by the three PTI leaders against the electoral watchdog in political gatherings, press conferences and various interviews.

Imran Khan had been issued an additional contempt notice against the ECP chief.

The hearing will take place amidst a tense political atmosphere in the country, with the opposition parties protesting against the PTI government’s policies and the PTI government facing challenges on multiple fronts.
