ECP Establishes 1039 Polling Stations for Local Body Election in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: As the Local Government (LG) polls approached, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established 1039 polling stations in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to facilitate voters and to ensure a better turnout on Election Day. 

The ECP has also set up 3099 polling booths for the local government polls to be held on 31 December 2022.  

The electoral body has appointed fifteen Monitoring Officers (MOs) headed by one District Monitoring Officer (DMO) to ensure a close watch on all candidates’ campaigning and take necessary action against the violators.

The monitoring teams have so far removed several prohibited-sized banners and posters from Union Councils 42, 47, 36, 37, 48, and 130 in the federal capital Islamabad.  

More than 1 million (1000155) registered voters, including 0.5 million (526138) and over 0.4 million (474017) female voters, will use their voting right in the local government polls in Islamabad. –APP
