ISLAMABAD: With Pakistan gearing up for parliamentary elections on Thursday, polling materials were distributed among presiding officers across the country on Wednesday for the general elections 2024 scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday).

Under the supervision of district returning officers, a range of materials – such as ballot papers, ballot boxes, privacy screens, stamps, stamp pads, un-removable ink, stationery, and other essentials – were handed out. Law enforcement agencies facilitated the transportation of these materials to polling stations, ensuring a smooth process for tomorrow’s general elections.

Every precaution is being taken to ensure the secure transportation of materials under police guard.

In Punjab’s provincial capital, Lahore, returning officers from various constituencies are gathering polling materials at the DC office. Subsequently, these materials will be handed over to presiding officers at 18 different locations across the city. Rigorous security measures have been implemented, with the installation of 29,000 cameras to monitor polling stations and prevent any disruptions.

Moreover, the Lahore commissioner personally inspected polling stations late at night to ensure compliance with the election code of conduct.

Today, polling materials were delivered to 14 constituencies of the National Assembly and 30 constituencies of the provincial assembly in Lahore.

Nine dispatch centers have been set up across seven districts to facilitate the distribution process. Election staff have begun reporting to these centers, where they receive materials under the supervision of police and Rangers.

While media access to the Karachi Expo Center, a pivotal distribution hub, has been restricted, private transport remains permitted for the transportation of materials to polling stations.
