ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet approved 1,914.83 million rupees in technical supplementary grants for various ministries and divisions and approved various summaries on Wednesday.
The cabinet committee meeting was attended by Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and other relevant ministers.
The committee suspended import conditions given in Import Policy Order 2022 related to the import of Timber and Wood from the date of issuance of IPO 2022 to 31 October 2023 with direction to the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to review the import policy and give suggestions to settle this matter.
The ECC also gave approval to another summary of the Commerce Ministry regarding an amendment in the Import Policy Order 2022’s relevant clause to allow government agencies to import raw pharmaceutical goods.
The Ministry of Energy filed a summary regarding the Quarterly Tariff Adjustments of K-Electric and informed the meeting that as per National Electricity Policy 2021, the uniform consumer-end tariff for K-Electric and state-run distribution companies could be maintained.
Economic Coordination Committee Approves Surcharge for K-Electric
The committee approved a surcharge of 1.52 rupees per unit to be recovered from K-Electric Consumers in one year. The ECC further allowed the issuance and utilization of the available budget of 76 billion rupees as payment of arrears under different heads.
The committee considered another summary of the Ministry of Energy regarding a revised circular debt management plan implementation and utilization of 20.726 billion rupees to government-owned power plants.
It approved various Technical Supplementary Grants, including 567.120 million rupees in favour of the Ministry of Federal Education for its development expenditure and 40 Million rupees in favour of the Ministry for Cadet College Hasan Abdal for need-based scholarships to the needy students.
